Neptune Flood, a private flood insurance provider in the US, has announced several strategic leadership updates to support its ongoing expansion.
Matt Duffy has been promoted from Managing Director to President. In this expanded role, Duffy will lead Neptune’s strategic initiatives, manage partnerships, and oversee daily operations.
Since joining the company, he has played a vital role in scaling operations, enhancing the AI-driven underwriting platform, and extending Neptune’s market leadership in the private flood insurance sector.
“Matt has been a key part of Neptune’s success, and his promotion to President reflects his leadership and deep expertise in how Neptune operates in the industry,” said Trevor Burgess, CEO of Neptune Flood.
“Under Matt’s leadership, Neptune is approaching $300 million of premium and has surpassed 230,000 policies in force, and I am confident that he will continue to drive our momentum as we further scale and innovate.”
Alais Griffin joins Neptune as General Counsel, bringing deep experience in legal strategy, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
A Harvard and Northwestern Law graduate, Griffin previously served as General Counsel & Chief Ethics Officer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and as Chief Counsel for the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Most recently, she was a founding partner at Griffin Strategic Law Advisors, advising organisations on legal and risk management strategy.
“Alais is an exceptional legal mind with a track record of leadership across government, corporate, and nonprofit sectors,” added Burgess. “As Neptune continues to grow, her expertise in regulatory compliance and corporate governance will be invaluable in guiding our next phase of expansion.”
Tom Wexler has been appointed Chief Engineer. Wexler, who holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University, brings significant experience in AI and data science.
Prior to joining Neptune, he worked on advanced machine learning applications at Verily, an Alphabet company. Since joining Neptune as a senior data scientist in May 2024, he has led efforts to strengthen the company’s underwriting automation and technological innovation.
Brad Schulz, Neptune’s current Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has also been named Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). In this dual role, Schulz will lead cybersecurity efforts and further protect Neptune’s data infrastructure and customer information.
“Tom’s deep expertise in AI and machine learning has already made a tremendous impact at Neptune,” said Duffy.
“His leadership in technology innovation will be critical as we continue to scale and push the boundaries of what’s possible in flood insurance. We are thrilled to have him leading our technology division. At the same time, Brad’s expanded role as CISO reflects our commitment to cybersecurity as a core pillar of our growth. His deep knowledge of technology and security will ensure that Neptune remains at the forefront of protecting policyholder data while continuing to drive technological advancements.”
